thank you, thank you, thank you for making me see that i'm wasting my time being in a world of bitter, twisted, self-absorbed people and helping me to wake up to the benefits of being a jehovah's witness!
if any of you come back with the ol - the jw's are full of bitter, twisted, people (in the most stupid arse voice of course!
), i'll reply, yeah, but not as rampant as the rest of the world.....call me crazy if you like, i don't care, because it's my salvation i'm worried about not yours....you've thrown it away because you can't see the bigger picture....trials and tribulation will always abound in this day and age...it is proving like job that we are not discouraged by the trials that gains us the most happiness because we know the trials won't go on much longer and jah will repay us 100 fold for our pain....that's a damn good reward to me!
I don't look up to any religion as a guide. As far as I'm concerned all religions teach hatred, divisiveness, ignorance and intolerance. The sooner we as a human race put this primitive belief system behind us, the better off we all will be.

They do not know the meaning of reverse psychology but the ones making WT policies are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

in the december 22 2001 issue, page 25 says`at proverbs 30;19, the bible speaks of "the way of an able-bodied man with a maiden".. my niv says "the way of an man with a maiden".
their quote indicates that a disabled person can't/shouldn't "have a way with a maiden" in other words discrimation!
where are the politically correct brigade when u need them
What can you expect with a book that was written thousands of years ago and try to apply it to today's standards.

I recall an ad that was referring to addicts and it said something like "Maybe you can't save your friend, but your kindness did make a difference in their life." Some of these people are not capable of looking after themselves but we cannot forget we are all human beings first. Maybe by giving these people a few dollars is not going to save them or change their lives significantly but it makes us feel better that we can help no matter how small a favor.
I recall one Xmas eve driving home from work late at night. There was a young lady hitch hiking on the side of the road. She was cold and wet so I picked her up. She gave me a sob story about how she it was Xmas and needed a place to stay for the night. She told me she was working and asked me if I was interested. I handed her 60 dollars and said merry Xmas. She was surprised that I would actually give her money and ask nothing in return. I will never forget the look on her face. Maybe she went and spent this money on drugs, I don't know for sure but I showed her that there is caring people still in this world. Maybe that one act of kindness changed her life for good. I will never know but I did make a difference that night. Now is not that what Christians should be doing?

ok, heres my question for all the ex-elders out there.. it will be announced thursday that my niece will be disfellowshipped.. the circumstances are not important to this discussion, but she is .
remorseful for her actions and has taken steps so it will not happen again.
she actually made a lot of sacrifices to try to make her mistake right.
You're right. That was the other reason they told me they df'd me. I didn't cry enough. LOL.
The elders are also looking to see if you will kiss their butts to.

According to my information, there is 3 things the elders look at for reinstatement. 1) You are repentant for what you did. 2) You are not practicing the wrong doing anymore. 3) You are regularly attending meetings. As long as these 3 prerequisites are present they have to reinstate you after a period of time. That seems to depend on which congregation you are in.
A good point that Moman and Amazing brought up.
That said, the best advice was from Moman ... tell her to stay out, get to college and a degree. Tell her that if she feels religious, she can try different churches.
I wouldn't personally suggest another religion because in my opinion one is no better that the other. She has to find her spirituality within herself. Tell here that she doesn't need anyone else's approval to feel good about herself and to learn to love herself instead of the self hate that is taught by the Jdubs.

just before i left i overheard an elder say that there is going to be a new nwt revision, a "organised" book revision (i heard another jw say this about 3 months ago) as well as a new ezekiel book (logically).. anyone heard this?.
oh, the new tms book has been released a few months back.. from alan
That'it. AND they will replace (or reprint with revised without notice on the INSIGHT book too. Why? Because all over this 2vols book has Sodom & Gomorrah people can be ressurected !!! see topics: Judgement Day ; Sodom ; Gomorrah ; Resurection etc ... All of them convey the idea those people will be ressurected)
Sounds like the WT flip flopping policies again???

There is some good scam artists out there. I saw a good show on TV one time about some of these professional beggars. They had a hidden camera on this one fellow. He looks so pathetic all dirty and tattered clothes. Then after he put in his time on the corner, he walked around a corner, opened the door of this late modeled van, pulled off his overalls, got in and drove off. The Van was better than anything I could afford. They were saying how some these guys pull in maybe 40 to 50 thousand a year, tax free.
Then you have the ones that are either addicts or mentally ill people. There is one young woman that I see at the bus stop. She is an addict and I have got to know her a bit. I used to give her a little bit of change but the last time I saw her I asked if she was hungry and she said yes. I gave her a sandwich and she was much appreciative of my kindness. It made me feel good that I could make a little difference in someone’s life. That’s what I feel is being "Christ" like.
